Efficacy of Osteopathic Manipulative Treatment (OMT) Vs Physiotherapy in Chronic Lateral Epicondylitis

Background: Several rehabilitative treatments have been proposed for Lateral Elbow Tendinopathy (LET). Therapeutic exercise showed the greatest beneficial effects together with patient education, and multimodal treatment subject specific. In recent years, osteopathic manipulative (OMT) has as LET. The aim of study was to focus on this emerging approach by comparing it more traditional physiotherapy. Methods: Thirty-two patients a diagnosis LET were enrolled randomly assigned two groups: OMT group physiotherapy group. former, underwent according common techniques. latter, protocol consisting in stretching strengthening exercises, laser therapy. Outcome measures included Patient-Rated Tennis Evaluation (PRTEE), Mayo Performance, VAS pain. Assessment carried out at baseline (T0), after 1 (T1) 3 (T2) months. addition, an ultrasound assessment elbow extensor tendon performed T0 T2. Results: Both Physiotherapy statistically significant improvement along follow-up pain PRTEE score. No difference found Score Ultrasound confirmed presence abnormalities vascularization, echogenicity, thickness T0, partially reduced Conclusion: resulted both effective LET, offering clinical which helped recovering their functional activities short-term follow-up.
